Keep it up. I have found it a real source of info over the last few months. I have just finished fitting my pop top and had it painted to match the van (stone blue). Lining to do next. Paul.
Cheers Paul, glad the blog has been useful. I'm still saving-up for the pop-top; which roof did you go for and did you fit it yourself? There seems to be an abundance of people out there all offering the best roof - I'd be grateful of anyone's honest advice, Richard
PS: all us Stone Blue owners should have a get-together at a v-dub show sometime...!
Fitting wasn't too bad but I was able to use my works facilities. Lining the van is something im struggling with though.Patience grasshopper i think. SCA roofs get a good write up but im wasnt keen on the plastic moulding that you see when finished and the spoiler at the front.
Yep, I think it's a job I'll leave to the professionals! I really enjoyed the lining part of the project - never done anything like that before - you're right; take your time.
I also found that having the right materials really helps, I went for a stretchy carpet that has lots of elastic woven into it and not as much 'backing' as a regular carpet.
I've looked at the SCA roof too and came to a similar opinion; the aesthetics just aren't that of the Reimo. Richard

It's a Reimo and yes I did fit it myself with the help of a friend. Price is a bit steep but they have stood the test of time.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I can see me going for Reimo too, good quality is worth paying for - not sure about fitting it myself though!
