Saturday Swap Shop

With the onset of snow and copious amounts of grit on the roads, this is the weekend for getting the BBS removed. So it's off with the grimy, salty alloys (ready for a thorough cleaning):

...and on with the steels:

Thanks must again go to JC at JC Motors for his handy-work with a trolley jack.

One thing we did notice when taking the BBS off was the tyre-wear; strangely there seems to be more wear on the rears than the fronts - is this normal? Tyre pressures? Van-load? Any insight as to why this might have happened would be most grateful.

  1. It sounds like you have not been accelerating hard enough!! ;-)

  2. Haha! You'd be right - not since stripping the driveshaft!

Going to get the alignment checked out to see if the rear end is running true. Maybe being run into last year has something to do with it:

  3. Possibly the accident, although it doesnt look horrific (I'd have probably killed the guy, by the way!!!).

It is strange that a fwd vehicle is wearing out the back tyres faster than the fronts.

Is it even wear or are you experiencing wear on one particular side or part of the tyre?

  4. Wear is pretty even across the rears which suggest the back of the van is traveling at a slight angle, will let you know the outcome in due course.

And yes, I was pretty close to killing Mr. Smith but he had his little lad with him so I bit my lip the whole time!

  5. Get someone to follow you and ask them to see if it is crabbing?

  7. UPDATE: After further investigation it seems the guys at Aire Valley Workshop swapped the fronts and rears when the van was in for the driveshaft work!
    This should be problem solved...
